Where do I find the page layouts?
Page layout options are located on the left side of the editor.
How do I filter the layout options?
You can filter layouts by the number of images they hold. Under Number of photos, click the number that matches the type of layout you want to see.
How do I change the layout on a page?
Click the page you want to edit. The selected page will be outlined in blue.
To preview a layout, hover over the layout options on the left side. If the page already has an image on it, the editor will show a live preview of how that layout will look with your photo.
To apply a layout, click the one you want. A black checkmark will appear on the selected layout.
Can I apply the same layout to all pages?
No. Layouts must be selected manually for each page.
How do I add text to a page?
Click Add Text Box in the left-side toolbar to place text on a page.
Can I add multiple text boxes to a page?
Yes. Click Add Text Box again for each additional text box you want to add.
For more information about text, please view our Text for Photo Books article.
How do I resize or move a photo box?
Click on the photo box to select it. From there, you can drag the corners or sides to resize it. You can also move the photo box around the page or move it to another page.
Can I add a photo box to an existing layout?
No. Additional photo boxes cannot be added to an existing layout.
For a more custom look, choose a layout with the number of photo boxes you need, then resize and reposition those boxes as needed.
How do I move a layout to another page?
Open Manage Pages from the top toolbar.
Select the page layout you want to move. A blue box with a move tool will appear around it. Click and drag the move tool to the new page location.
Can I change the background color of a page?
Yes, but only on the blank color page layout.
Go to the last layout in the Individual Page Layouts section on the left side. Once that layout is selected, a color wheel will appear in the bottom right corner. Click it to choose your background color.
This layout can be used as a blank colored page or with text, but images cannot be added on top of it.
How do I swap photos in a layout?
Click the photo you want to replace. A small toolbar will appear above it.
Click Swap, then choose the photo you want to use instead.
How do I create a custom layout outside the editor?
If you want full control over your layout, you can design your pages in a third-party program and upload them as images.
Since we do not support PDF uploads, you’ll need to:
- Design each page in a third-party program
- Add 0.125" (1/8 inch) to all four sides to account for trimming
- Export each page as a PNG or JPG in sRGB color profile at 300 DPI
Example:
An 8.5" x 8.5" book should be designed at 8.75" x 8.75".
Keep all important content away from the outer 0.125" edges.
Once exported, upload your JPEGs and place them into the full-bleed layout in the editor.
How do I design a two-page spread?
Layflat Albums
Two-page spreads are built into the editor for:
- Layflat Album
- Wedding Layflat Album
- Wedding Guest Book
- Signature Layflat Album
- Photo Wrapped Layflat Album
These albums are designed to lay flat, making them ideal for seamless images across both pages.
Hardcover Photo Books
Two-page spreads are not built into the editor for hardcover books, but they can be created manually.
Keep in mind:
- About 0.5" of the image may be lost in the center binding
- Alignment across pages cannot be guaranteed
To create a spread:
- Design your image with the center binding area in mind
- Split the image into two separate JPEG files
- Upload both images to the editor
- Use the full-bleed layout on two facing pages
- Place the left half on the left page and the right half on the right page
For best results, avoid placing important details in the center fold.
Note: Since our Hardcover Books are not designed for two-page spreads, we cannot guarantee this method will produce a perfect result.
