What are Design Services?
Design Services is a personalized album design experience led by Artifact Uprising’s expert team. You’ll work one-on-one with an account manager and designer to create a thoughtfully curated album that tells your story.
This team operates separately from Customer Experience. After you purchase or inquire, a Design Services team member will contact you within 1–2 business days.
How does the design process work?
Once your payment and photos are received, your designer will send your first draft within 5 business days. You’ll review and request edits using a proofing tool.
- Two revisions are included
- Additional revisions are $50 each
- Final designs should be approved within 21 days
When complete, your designer will add the finished project to your cart for purchase. Design fees are non-refundable once work has started.
What customization options are available?
You can choose from a variety of sizes, fabric colors, and foil options across our Layflat albums and guest books, including:
How many photos can be included?
Photo count depends on your album size and page count. A 90-page Layflat album (45 spreads) typically accommodates up to 160 images.
For guest books, fewer images are recommended to allow space for handwritten notes.
Is photo curation or editing offered?
Photo curation is included for the first 200 images. Additional curation is available in tiered pricing based on your total image count.
We do not offer retouching or photo editing services.
Will all of my photos be used?
Not necessarily. Designers aim to include as many meaningful images as possible, but not every photo is guaranteed to be used. You’ll be asked to highlight your must-have images so they're prioritized in the design.
Do promotions apply to Design Services?
Promotions do not apply to the design fee. However, active album discounts can be applied to the final printed product.

Can I use Design Services with album credits or collections?
Yes. You can apply album credits (including Zola credits) toward your final purchase and pay any remaining balance.
For multiple uniquely designed albums, an additional $50 design fee applies per album.
What are the recommended file specifications?
- sRGB color space required
- File size under 25MB (4–7MB recommended)
- 300 DPI for optimal resolution
How long does the process take?
Design timelines vary based on feedback and revisions. On average:
- Design: as little as 5 days
- Production + shipping: at least 10 business days
Expedited shipping is available for an additional cost.
What is the refund policy?
Design fees are refundable only if no design work has started. Once work begins, fees are non-refundable.
How do I get started?
Purchase your design fee and album deposit to begin. You’ll then receive an Album Customization Form to share your preferences.

Can I create albums for occasions other than weddings?
Yes. Design Services can be used for any Layflat album, including travel, family, memorials, birthdays, and more.
