How are Hardcover Photo Books bound?
For our softcover and hardcover books, we use PUR Binding. This is a form of perfect binding where the pages and cover are glued together at the spine and the other three sides of the book are trimmed as needed to give them clean “perfect” edges. Polyurethane Reactive (PUR) is the most durable bookbinding glue available.

Can I have foil stamping on my cover instead of the dust jacket?
Just as dust jackets are exclusive to our Hardcover Books, foil stamping is exclusive to our Layflat Albums and Wedding Guest Books. Foil stamping is not available for the linen covers of our Hardcover Photo Books, however, you can now add digital foil to the dust jacket.
Alternative options here are our Photo-Wrapped Photo Book offerings: Photo-Wrapped Hardcover and Photo-Wrapped Layflat. Though foil-stamping is not an offering for these photo book types, the printing itself comes directly on the cover with digital print text options.
For reference, our foil stamping is done through a very hands-on and heavy labor process. Due to this hand-touch process vs utilizing a machine, it is only available with our premium offerings.

What is the difference between digital foil and foil stamping?
Digital foil is adhered to the printed text directly on the cover paper in gold, silver, and copper colors. A UV Gloss layer is then applied to give the foil a textured, embossed effect.
Digital foil is now available on the dust jacket of the following book types: Hardcover Photo Book, Hardcover Travel Photo Book, Hardcover Milestone Photo Book, Hardcover Annual Photo Book, Hardcover Wedding Photo Book, and the available to be printed directly on the covers of the Color Series Photo Book and the Softcover Photo Book.
Foil stamping is a traditional method, which is different from digital foil. Each letter is de-bossed with pressured heat into the fabric cover and spine, resulting in an elegantly textured finish. Foil stamping is available on the Layflat Photo Album, Wedding Layflat Photo Album, Signature Layflat Photo Album, Wedding Guest Book, and the Everday Photo Book.
