Currently, only our Layflat albums (including the Layflat, Wedding Layflat, Wedding Guest Book, and Signature Layflat) have the two-page spread layout built into the editor. The album, because it lays flat, caters to this type of design perfectly. We do have customers that create this in the hardcover books, but please note that we cannot guarantee that this layout will print perfectly aligned because this type of binding is not suited for a 2-page spread.
Since it is not built into our editor, here is what you need to do to create a 2-page spread for our Hardcover books:
- Design with the binding area in mind. Since the hardcover is a bound book, some detail will be lost in the center of the pages due to binding. You will lose about .5” of the image in the center, so you will want to make sure there is nothing important in that area.
- Pick an image that will work with the binding area and crop it into two separate images in any third-party program. Save them as two separate JPEGs.
- In the editor, select the full bleed layout and drop the photos into the two pages you plan to have the image span across.
- Place the left part of the image on the left-hand side of the page, and the right side of the image on the right-hand side of the page.
